Group Project

What kind of team member are you?
My prediction: completer finisher
My results: implementer , completer finisher, monitor-evaluator, team worker.
Evaluation: I am very surprised at my results as I usually strike myself to be more of someone who has to complete something. My results however, show that I am more of an implementer, someone who uses practicality and cool to approach matters.

Gantt Charts:
A Gantt chart is a kind of bar chart that is used to illustrate the schedule of a project. It is incredibly useful for time management as you have a certain agenda to stick to when you are doing your project. This saves a lot of time that can be put towards improving your project. It is also useful for a third party to see and understand what you are doing for your project and how you are planning on doing it. To optimise use of your Gantt chart and make it as accurate as possible, start by making a list of all the tasks that need to be done. Then sort them all out: what can be done at the same time, which tasks can be merged, how much time is needed for each task etc. By doing this, you are ensuring that your Gantt chart can help you save time. Though it is slightly time consuming to do, it will save time in the long run as its like a set of guidelines for you to stick to.

Reflection on lesson on the 4th of November 2011:
Today we finished up on deciding on our outcomes from the Peak Oil project. Since we had finished our Gantt chart and managed to brush up on our group working skills, we decided to start our actual group project next week, giving us more time to concentrate on it. We have all benefited from the test run and i do believe that we are ready to start our project.

Reflection on lesson on the 18th of November 2011:
This lesson we discussed the mark scheme for both the group and individual aspects of the group project. This was especially important because the mark scheme showed us what we needed to accomplish to achieve the desired band/mark. What surprised me was how, despite this being a group project, how little the group aspect of the project carried (20/60) compared to the individual element (40/60). The mark scheme helped me see what we had to improve on as a group to achieve Band 54, our desired mark. Timing is of essence here as we tend to stray from our topic often, as wells allocating tasks within the group more effectively and clearly. This way, we make sure everyone does something and contributes equally towards the project as well as ensure we all fill up our quotas for the independent aspect.

Reflection on lesson on the 21st of November 2011:
We sorted out what kind of team member's we are today. We had two vacancies but filled it out with Bryan as he is usually the one who makes sure we finish everything. Personally, I think we have a good variety of team member's in our group and that it provides a good balance. Also, we are all quite tolerative and hopefully, we won't end up fighting during discussions.

Reflection on lesson on the 5th of December 2011:
This lesson was spent on starting our project and documentary plan. We also wrote to Auto Bavaria to ask for permission to use their commercial on hybrid cars as well as for more information on the cars. We have a pretty good start to both our plans and plan to finish all this by the time all our results for the questionnaire arrive.
